When I first heard Animal Collective, I thought that they were just another one of those ridiculous, experimental-noise bands. I was later proven correct. However, Animal Collective combines aspects of all types of rock music, such as ambient, experimental, hardcore, indie, and folk. Their lastest release, Strawberry Jam, is the epitome of experimental music. Beginning the successful single, “Peacebone”, is a band member simply uttering the words “Bone Face” followed by sounds that could have come from a 6-year-old with a synthesizer. Then in comes a constant drum beat and the song finally has a beat, followed with a melody. The album as a whole has an excellent flow to it and is quite addictive. Overall, and A-
